Our Kauai Surf Co. waterproof backpacks and dry bags feature roll-top closures for maximum waterproof capabilities. This closure system is the most reliable method for insuring water or other elements do not leak into the compartment.

Closing a Waterproof Backpack or Dry Bag

  1. After the backpack or dry bag is loaded, push down from the top to remove excess air.
  2. Fold the top down tightly at least three times, then securely fasten the top sides together while maintaining a tight fold.

Kauai Surf Co. Waterproof 10L Beach Tote Bag Instructions

The waterproof tote bag is designed to carry about 10 liters of gear. The main compartment is waterproof when closed properly.

The tote bag is constructed of durable 500D PVC material and requires minimum maintenance. Keep the bag away from sharp objects as punctures will result in loss of waterproof protection. The bag can be washed with water or soap and water. Do not machine wash. Dry the bag inside and out before storage.

To close the main compartment follow these steps:

  1. Tightly roll the top down three times.
  2. Fold the ends together and attach the buckle.

The bag will float unless extremely heavy gear is inside. The bag should not be submerged as water will eventually leak in if the bag is underwater. Leave extra air in the top of the bag when closing to maximize flotation ability.

The 20L Lumahai Series Waterproof Backpack is designed to carry about 20 liters of gear. The main compartment is waterproof when closed properly. Please note the outside front pocket is not waterproof.

The backpack is constructed of durable 500D PVC material and requires minimum maintenance. Keep the backpack away from sharp objects as punctures will result in loss of waterproof protection. The backpack can be washed with water or soap and water. Do not machine wash. Dry the backpack inside and out before storage.

The main compartment of the Kauai Surf Co. "Alakai Series" Waterproof Backpack is waterproof when closed properly. The side entry pocket is water resistant only and not fully waterproof.

The backpack is constructed of durable 500D PVC material and requires minimum maintenance. Keep the backpack away from sharp objects as punctures will result in loss of waterproof protection. The backpack can be washed with water or soap and water. Do not machine wash or dry. Dry the backpack inside and out before storage.

To close the main compartment follow these steps:

  1. Set the pack in front of you with the front facing you.
  2. Tightly roll the top down three times along the top strip away from you. The waterproof capability depends on a tight roll.
  3. Fold the ends together and attach the buckle, keeping the fold as tight as possible while you buckle.
  4. Put the top flap over the top of the pack and close using the straps and buckles on the front of the pack.
  5. Do not lift or hold the pack by the top liner as it is not designed to support the weight of the entire pack.

The main compartment of the Kauai Surf Co. "Kalalau Series" Waterproof Backpack is waterproof when closed properly. The front pocket is water resistant only and not fully waterproof.

The backpack is constructed of durable 500D PVC material and requires minimum maintenance. Keep the backpack away from sharp objects as punctures will result in loss of waterproof protection. The backpack can be washed with water or soap and water. Do not machine wash or dry. Dry the backpack inside and out before storage.

The laptop sleeve inside the main compartment, attached by Velcro, can be removed.

To close the main compartment follow these steps:

  1. Set the pack in front of you with the front facing away from you.
  2. Tightly roll the top down three times along the top strip towards you. The waterproof capability depends on a tight roll.
  3. Fold the ends together and attach the buckle, keeping the fold as tight as possible while you buckle. (The fold will become easier the more times it is folded.)
  4. Attach the top strap to the Velcro on the top front.

How to Wash a Waterproof Backpack or Dry Bag

How to wash a waterproof backpack or dry bag

Here's how to wash and dry a waterproof backpack or dry bag made out of PVC material. The PVC waterproof material makes washing easy. All you need is water, some detergent, a rag or sponge, and a towel.

1. Empty the contents of the backpack or dry bag.
2. Rinse off the backpack or dry bag with a hose, under a faucet or in a tub of water.
3. Use a moist rag or sponge to wipe away tough spots such as mud and dirt. Gentle dishwashing soap can be added for extra cleaning power.
4. Rinse away any soap.
5. Towel dry.
6. Hang the backpack or dry bag (preferably upside down) to let it air out and finish drying.

Note that most Kauai Surf Co. waterproof backpacks and dry bags are made out of PVC and can be washed and dried in this manner.

Important! Do not wash a waterproof backpack or dry bag made from PVC in a washing machine or dry in a dryer.
